Sleeping Beauty Castle Model - 1953

The rumor is that Walt, when presented with a model of the proposed "Fantasyland Castle", felt that the design too closely resembled Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, so he "turned" the upper portion of the castle around so the back now faced the front, thus creating the look of the beloved castle you see today. As proof, take note of how the front of the castle in the 1953 model above more closely resembles the back of the castle as it was built in 1955.
