A Nod to Sam McKim

Step out of the Pieces of Eight gift shop and you’ll find the fortune-telling pirate, Fortune Red. Housed in a coin-operated booth, he dispenses your fortune for a mere pittance. What he won’t tell you is how that Disneyland map you have in your hands is tied to the one in his. The treasure map he’s holding is an original illustration drawn by Sam McKim, a Disney Legend who created many Disneyland illustrations, including the prized Disneyland souvenir maps issued between 1958 and 1964.
