Animated Cartoons by E.G. Lutz
In 1920, a young 19 year-old Walt Disney obtained a copy of "Animated Cartoons by E.G. Lutz". The first book of its kind dedicated to the art and science of animation, it was Walt's "first information on animation" and was an important teaching and reference tool during his early years at his Kansas City studio, ultimately contributing to the development of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, followed by Mickey Mouse. The corresponding photo is of a 1920 first-edition, complete with a rare dust jacket. (Source: Author's private collection)
